Hurricane Preparedness
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THERE IS NO MEETING
IN JULY
We are very lucky to have Jackie Miller, a
speaker from the City of Houston’s Office of Emergency Management
share information with us at this members meeting. Booklets on
hurricane preparedness will also be handed out.
Their Mission Statement is: “We conduct
programs and activities designed to provide our customers,
internal and external, with the ability to prepare for, cope with,
and recover from the effects of disasters. This is achieved
through information and resource exchange, working with the public
and private sectors, and all levels of government through the
utilization of modern technology.”
Emergency Management is responsible for
coordinating the City of Houston's preparation for and response to
emergency situations.

Directions for:
The Park at Voss,
2424 South Voss Road, Houston, TX-77057
The Park at Voss Apartment Complex is on Voss Road
between Westheimer and San Felipe. It is on the west side of Voss
- the left side if you are coming from Westheimer, the right side
if you are coming from San Felipe. Enter the area by the Park at
Voss sign and proceed to the left side of the parking lot. Once
you are parked, follow the path inside the fenced area to the
leasing office and the conference room.

Monday June 2 10 am - Noon
New2ICH Coffee at Linda Hunter's for new or potential members
to meet the Board and other ICH members in an informal setting.
Tuesday June 3 12 pm - 2 pm
International Lunch featuring "A Vietnamese Luncheon". Prepaid
reservations only - a delicious lunch in a beautiful home filled
with Asian antiques - good wine and a full menu to enjoy in the
company of fellow ICH members.
Saturday June 8 at 6 pm
Dining Out at Churrassco's on 9705 Westheimer @Gessner - an
evening out with other ICH members and their partners.
Tuesday June 10 at 10.30 am
This month will be hosted by Louise McGuiness - please contact
Kareen Dee and Louise McGuiness to let them know you are coming.
BBQ'd foods is on the agenda.
Wednesday June 11 at 10.30 am
ICH Board Meeting.
Tuesday June 17 at 12 pm
French Conversation will be accompanied by lunch at Le Mistral
on Eldridge Parkway. Contact Cecile Granger to make reservations.
Thursday June 19 from 10 am - Noon
MONTHLY MEETING featuring HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS and the guest
speaker is Jackie Miller from the City of Houston's Office of
Emergency Management. Booklets will be given out and all the
information and more about preparing for a Hurricane in Houston.
Very important as the last time we had this topic was 2 weeks
before Hurricane Rita almost hit Houston - you can never be too
prepared!! Please make sure you make this meeting or send your
spouse/partner!!
Westside Walkers ARE CONTINUING in June and at 8 am
instead of 9 to accomodate the weather. Please contact Fiona
Ireland or Chris Lusignan as Kate Horan will be on holiday.
All activities continue as normal in June but please check with
individual leaders for a July agenda. Most will resume in August.
